Hindustan Zinc, in association with State and Central Government invests worth Rs. 1 cr. in constructing high level quality toilets in 30 rural Government Girl’s School, under the ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’. The complete maintenance of the toilets will be done by the respective Management of the schools.
The event was organized in Mansinghji ka Kheda village at Chittorgarh district. The chief guest of the event was Mr. Shantilal Suthar, Additional District Education Officer.
Globally, India ranks as one of the countries accounting for almost 3 quarters of open defecation. Half the population in India, around 564 million people, do not yet use a toilet; instead, go out in the open – UNICEF
Toilets in each school will provide comfort, convenience with a sense of security and dignity to every girl. The project is also expected to improve good hygiene practices and create awareness towards health & sanitation.
Hindustan Zinc has previously constructed toilets in 64 government schools in Chittorgarh, Begu, Badi Sadri, Kapasan, Raashmi and Gangrar in the dirstrict of Chittorgarh. The company has also invested Rs. 65 lakhs to construct classrooms in Salera School and to build boundary wall for Satpuda School in the village of Ajoliya ka Kheda, Chittorgarh. Currently, in the Government School, Umavi Kashmor, Rs. 20 lakhs investment was done to construct 2 classrooms.
