Safety being a priority at Hindustan Zinc, every employee should be a Safety Ambassador.
Hindustan Zinc, India’s leading producer of Zinc, Lead and Silver; welcomed their latest batch of Graduate Engineer Trainees on 27th August at their Head Office in Udaipur. A total of 276 GET’s completed their 55-day training period and were inducted into Hindustan Zinc’s various functions across their locations.
The Engineers went through an intensive 55-day training programme, in which they had a rich experience in technical and behavioural skills. More than 180 internal faculties, comprising of Department Heads across various functions in Hindustan Zinc, and 25 external faculties conducted lectures on over 90 subjects for these GET’s. The GET’s also participated in activities like yoga, sports, blood donation drive, etc. to ensure a holistic approach during their induction process.
Mr. Sunil Duggal, CEO and Whole Time Director HZL, stressed on the fact of how diversified the recent batch of GET’s is. He was happy to see young minds from different walks of life and contrasting cultures come together to start their professional journey.
“As a company which strives for higher diversity among employees, I’m happy to see that we’ve achieved 16% diversity rate with this batch of Graduate Engineer Trainees,” said Mr. Duggal.
Varun Diwan, one the GET’s at the event gave his testimony on the impressive training facilities provided by Hindustan Zinc. He also acknowledged the guidance provided by the trainers specifically in the mining industry.
Another GET, Shreya Naresh praised the personality development aspect of these trainings, taking a holistic approach towards both technical and behavioural trainings.
Mr. Duggal stressed on the fact of how safety is a core value at Hindustan Zinc, and asked everyone to propagate this value. He urged the GET’s to not only follow high standards of safety, but to also be a Safety Ambassador of the company and to society and community.

Along with Mr. Sunil Duggal were present, Mr. Amitabh Gupta – Director Commercial and CEO Fertilisers, Mr. Laxman Shekhawat – Director Operations, Mr. Arun Vijay Kumar – Director Projects, Mr. Swayam Saurabh – Dy. CFO, Mr Rajesh Kundu – Head Technical, Mr. Rajinder Singh Ahuja – Head HSE, Mrs. Neelima Khetan – Head CSR, Ms. Kavita Singh – Chief Human Resource Officer, Ms. Jayita Roy – Dy. Head HR and Mr. Sanjay Sharma – AVP.
Post this training and induction, the 2019 batch of Graduate Engineering Trainees will be deputed across Hindustan Zinc locations and will start work under respective functions.
