Contract Work force to benefit from Hind Zinc’s Group Corona Kavach policy for Business Partners

Cashless policy covers over 25800 workers, Ensured over 5000vaccinations so far for employees, family members, and business partners
At Hindustan Zinc (HZL), people are at the heart of its operations and partners in growth. While ensuringbeing responsible and thriving workplace, the company has introduced the Group Corona KavachPolicy for contract workforce against COVID 19 across locations in Rajasthan.

The wellbeing & safety of human resources are the top prioritiesat Hindustan Zinc and give a strong emphasis on people-centric policies enabling long-term growth. The company believes that along with employees, business partners play an equally important role in the growth of the organisation. The Group Corona Kavach policy for contract workers has been taken from New India Assurance, Mumbai that covers more than 25800 contract workforces.
This cashless policy covers all corona related diagnostic charges including pre-hospitalization and post-hospitalization expenses. The company has also provided COVID Death Policy through Go-Digit Insurance company for all the contract workers in the case of unfortunate exigency. Further, COVID Task Forces are deployed to monitor the impact on the entire workforce and families of employees.

While we have arranged all necessary infrastructure to ensure proper care and treatment of anyone affected by COVID, we have gone a step beyond to introduce the Group Corona Kavach Policy for over 25800 contract workforces to support them during these distressed times. This insurance will take care of hospitalization cost as well as compensation in case of any unfortunate event. All contract employees have been brought under this cover”.
Amidst this pandemic, Hindustan Zinc has adhered to the various mandated norms and regulations. The company has also introduced, as a reaction to the pandemic, various measures to change the way of working to ensure a safer working environment for the employees. The Guidelines were drawn centrally applicable for all operations of HZL, with responsibilities defined for business continuity and elimination of risk to the workforce. On the plant side, the company has taken all precautions by reducing footfall at the plant and redesigning the workforce.

Further, the company has arranged resources across its plants and state-of-the-art townships in remote locations of Rajasthan. With rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the state causing a huge influx of patients in hospitals and acute shortage of oxygen for respiratory treatments, HZL took the initiative of providing oxygen supply to hospitals as a substitute for medication oxygen after due diligence. The company is giving liquid oxygen through cryogenic tankers from its oxygen plant at Rajpura Dariba Complex to RNT medical college at Udaipur. After providing liquid oxygen to the administration for the treatment of COVID patients, the company has gone a step beyond and is filling 500 oxygen cylinders per day with an oxygen bottling plant set up specifically for this purpose. The company has provided 160T liquid oxygen and approx. 9000 oxygen cylinders to the district administration. This is playing critical role in COVID relief efforts. Additionally, the company will soon commission a bottling plant with cylinder filling capacity of 1200 oxygen cylinders a day which will help meet further the shortage of oxygen. Hindustan Zinc has initiated a Covid Vaccination drive for employees and their families. The company has ensured over 5000 vaccinations so far for employees, family members, and business partners.
The company has evenextended the support to the health Administration, by disinfecting areas by spraying & fumigating with Sodium Hypochlorite solution and providing medical gears like masks, sanitizers & Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). So far, around one lakh litres of Sodium Hypochlorite solution have been procured for sanitization purposes.


Hind Zinc setting up a state-of-the-art ‘field hospital’ in Dariba against COVID

New field hospital in Daribawill have a capacity of 100 beds for COVID patients, HZL ramps up oxygen supplies to hospitals, over 200T of oxygen supplied to District Administration
With an increase in COVID – 19 cases, there is an increased need for priority medical care facilities for COVID affected patients. Hindustan Zinc, committed to their Chairman’s thought of giving back, has come out firmly in support of the Rajasthan government in itsefforts to take both preventive and curative measures against the pandemic.

The companyis setting up a state-of-the-art ‘field hospital’ with a capacity of 100 critical care beds in Dariba at Hindustan Zinc’s DAV school. The hospital will be located in the DAV school ground and is in addition to the support provided to the 300-bed hospital already being setup in DAV school premises.
Housed in air-conditioned tents with full electrical support, the ‘field hospital’ will be designed specifically for COVID care. The critical care facilities will have 20 beds equipped with oxygen support while the remaining 80 ICU beds will have ventilator support. This is in addition to the DAV school air-conditioned infrastructure, continuous electricity, water supply, generator and fire tender support availed to the health administration for COVID relief
Mr. Arvind Poswal,District Collector, Rajsamandappreciated the efforts of Hindustan Zinc and said, “I express my sincere gratitude to HZL for setting up a dedicated 100 bed COVID hospital in Dariba which will be fully equipped with ventilators and other important medical instruments. It will help the underprivileged section of society in getting the quality treatment and thus be a great service to humanity in this era of crisis. I hope this dedicated COVID hospital will prove to be a milestone in saving the lives of our people during COVID 19 pandemic.”

Hindustan Zinc’s CEO, Mr Arun Misra said, “Hindustan Zinc stands united with the nation to provide any kind of help for our communities in the fight against COVID. We have ramped up our efforts to support the government by providing a vaccination van and a daily supply of ~10T oxygen to hospitals and local authorities. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the health administration and are providing this critical care facility of 100 beds for COVID patients, equipped with all necessary medical aid and ICU beds. Additionally, we are also working with local panchayats to regularly sanitize local communities and conduct awareness drives to prevent spread of COVID. We will continue our support to overcome this pandemic together.”
This is one more commendable initiative by the company towards COVID relief efforts for the people of Rajasthan. HZL is currently also providing 5T of medical oxygen per day, while another 5T of oxygen is being supplied daily in cylinders through its oxygen bottling plant. The company has so far provided over 200T ofoxygen to the district administration.
Across 5 districts of itsoperational areas, Hindustan Zinc is supporting local administration through critical care beds, necessary medical equipment, RTPCT machines, oxygen cylinders and supply, sanitization through hypochlorite solution, PPE kits as well as masks. Hindustan Zinc has provided over 4400 oxygen cylinders till date.

As a law-abiding and responsible organization, Hindustan Zinc is in complete solidarity with the steps taken and efforts made by the state government and local governing bodies during these unprecedented times through various relief measures. While understanding the gravity of the situation and with a rapid increase in COVID 19 cases in the state, the company took the initiative of providing industrial oxygen supply as a substitute for oxygen to address the shortage of it in hospitals and health centres.
Hindustan Zinc has joined hands with the local body administration and health department to amplify its efforts for COVID relief. After providing liquid oxygen to the administration for treatment of COVID patients, the company has gone a step beyond and is making 500 cylinders of oxygen available per day with an oxygen bottling plant set up specifically for this purpose.In addition to the bottling plant, the company has till date provided 101T liquid oxygen to district administration. This will play a critical role in COVID relief efforts. Additionally, the company will soon commission a bottling plant with a production of 1200 oxygen cylinders a day which will help meet the shortage of oxygen.
There has been a huge influx of patients in hospitals which created a shortage of oxygen for respiratory treatments. To further amplify these efforts and support the community, the company will help meet the demand for oxygen at hospitals in not just the areas of Rajsamand and Udaipur but also Jodhpur.

Hindustan Zinc’s CEO Mr. Arun Misra said, “Looking at the current scenario of rising demand for oxygen, Hindustan Zinc has set up an oxygen bottling plant that would directly convert liquid oxygen into usable form in oxygen cylinders for treatment in hospitals. This has increased the efficiency of our efforts in supporting the government. Before this we had innovated clinical methods through which we provided 150T liquid oxygen in cryogenic tankers through our oxygen plant to the health administration. We are keeping a keen eye on the development of the situation and are putting in maximum efforts to support administration for COVID relief. Currently, Hindustan Zinc’s Oxygen plant has dedicated 100% of its oxygen production for the community. The Dariba Smelter Team erected the bottling plant within 5 days by working non-stop so it could produce 500 cylinders per day. Till date 101T liquid oxygen has been supplied.
Multiple hospitals across the state will be benefited by the oxygen cylinders from HZL plant to meet the demand for oxygen. The Hindustan Zinc team is continuously working to make the process more efficient for the benefit of the community under the guidance of District Collector Rajsamand – Mr. Arvind Poswal, Divisional Commissioner Excise – Dr.Jogaram, and Mr. Sahi Ram – GM DIC.

Udaipur. Hindustan Zinc Limited, the leading global integrated producer of zinc, lead and silver, reported its results for the fourth quarter and full year ended March 31, 2021.

Commenting on the Q4and FY performance, Mr Arun Misra, CEO, said: “We are conscious of the fact that our country is going through COVID Pandemic the scale of which has not been seen before. We are doing whatever we can including supplying liquid oxygen from our smelters to hospitals in and around Udaipur. We are proud to announce that we delivered record production volumes of mined metal, finished metal and silver production, while ensuring 22-months of fatality-free operations. I am also happy to inform that we exited the year at run-rate of 1.2mtpa. We also maintained our first rank in Asia pacific region in the metals & mining category in Dow jones Sustainability Index for third consecutive year and amongst India’s first companies to be rated ‘A’ in climate change CDP 2020.”

Hind Zinc provides oxygen to local governing bodies in fight against COVID 19

Hindustan Zinc supplied 1500 litres industrial oxygen to Udaipur health administration , Liquid industrial oxygen will be used through clinical procedures for medical treatment of patients
Udaipur:COVID 19 cases have been rapidly rising in the state causing a huge influx of patients in hospitals and a shortage of oxygen for respiratory treatments. To meet this shortage, Hindustan Zinc took the initiative of providing industrial oxygen supply to hospitals as a substitute for oxygen. The company transported a 1000 litre liquid oxygen tanker from its industrial oxygen plant at Rajpura Dariba Complex to RNT medical college at Udaipur.

Appreciating the efforts and significant contribution by Hindustan Zinc, the Udaipur district collector Chetan Devra said, “With an increase in COVID cases, there is an increase in the requirement of oxygen as well. Most of the patients being admitted to hospitals are such critical cases who require oxygen in their treatment. I really wish to appreciate Hindustan Zinc’s efforts because once I made a request to provide oxygen, they started sending 5000 litres liquid oxygen per day with the help of their plant at Dariba. On behalf of entire Administration I again thank Hindustan Zinc for their persistent efforts in battling COVID.”

As a responsible organisation, we’ve started supplying liquid oxygen to help the gap in availability of oxygen in treating COVID patients in hospitals. Hindustan Zinc has set aside 100% of its liquid oxygen production facility in Dariba smelter to supply oxygen.”
Since 2011, Hindustan Zinc has been 100% self-sufficient in terms of commercial oxygen supply thanks to its industrial oxygen plant at Dariba. The plant has a capacity to produce 4-5MT/day of liquid oxygen and the same is stored in tanks with capacity 2.50MT. The atmosphere air is converted to oxygen through a cryogenic process which gives the highest purity of oxygen and the resultant product is used in process plant, part of which in liquid form and is stored in the tanks. The plant has dedicated 100% of its monthly production of 150MT oxygen to hospitals. This oxygen will be undergo clinical procedures to be used for medical treatments of critical patients.
