Hind Zinc’s Kayad Mine wins Golden Peacock Environment Award

Kayad Mine won the award for initiatives to improve its environmental impact and safety quotient
Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc’s Kayad Mine was awarded the prestigious ‘Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2021’for its efforts and initiatives towards sustainable mining. The award was given in recognition of the company’s efforts to enhance pollution control facilities, reduce carbon emissions, treat and recycle water from operating units, among other biodiversity management initiatives.

The World Environment Foundation’s Golden Peacock Environment Management Award is a notable honour that encourages organisations to enhance, optimise and strengthen their environmental and social performance. On behalf of Hindustan Zinc, Director Kayad Mine – Mr KC Meena received the award.
Kayad Mine has been a model for sustainable operations, catering the majority of energy requirements through renewable solar power, reusing and recycling water in operations and having state-of-the-art waste management systems.The mine has solar power systems with a capacity to meet half of its power demand. Kayad Mine had also received the prestigious ‘5 Star Rated Mines’ award from the Ministry of Mines last month for their efforts in sustainable mining.
Hindustan Zinc is an innovator in sustainable operations, with a solid commitment to maintaining and upholding the highest ESG norms and standards, tackling carbon emissions, addressing climate change, and conserving water and energy. Hind Zinc Electrifies Six Panchayats with Solar Powered Street Lights

40 solar lights will be installed across six Pancahayats near Zawar
Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, the leading global integrated producer of zinc, lead, and silver, leverages its various initiatives to promote renewable energy, technology, and community development.As part of their CSR initiative, the company inaugurated40 solar streetlights across6 Panchayats near Zawar. HZL strongly believes that electricity is a critical driver of socio-economic development, and that affordable green and clean energy is the ideal approach for the benefit of the community as well as the environment.

The village Sarpanch, Shri Prakash Meena, and the HZL’s CSR team chose specific areas in the village, and installation work began following the consultation with the local community. “Due to the effort of the CSR team of Zawar Mines, the residents of our village will have access to electricity, and the interest towards renewable energy and solar lights will also develop among the local people,” remarked the local Sarpanch, Mr. Prakash Meena.
Talking about the series of renewable energy initiatives, SBU Director, Zawar Mines – Mr. Kishore S expressed his vision of improving & strengthening rural infrastructures and promote green energy values through the integration of clean energy and smart technology applications.The villagers’ lives will be significantly touched by the installation of solar-powered streetlights which will provide better illumination to the villages and ensure safety post-sunset. In the long run, the idea is to install additional streetlights and other infrastructure and development projects in these villages, for a brighter and progressive Rajasthan.
The company has been promoting solar energy while simultaneously working to improve the quality of life of local communities. More than 100 solar street lights have already been erected throughout Zawar’s 12 Panchayats, with an additional 40 on the way. This initiative will ensure the safety of local villages, avoid accidents, and improve visibility for everyone at night. This will also provide communities with environmentally friendly technologies and improve their standard of living by providing illumination at night.


Hind Zinc Organizes AIDS Awareness Session across Six Locations

The comprehensive lecture covered a broad array of topics associated with AIDS, More than 500 people across 15 villages were benefitted
Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, the leading global integrated zinc, lead, and silver producer, conducted awareness sessions in all six locations. More than 500 people across 15 villages registered their participation in the session, which was conducted in Zawar, Debari, Dariba, Chittorgarh, Kayad, and Agucha. It was organized as part of the CSR effort with the goal of spreading ‘Awareness on AIDS.’ The session was held at different locations with the help of Mobile Health Vans (MHVs), which drove to several villages educating communities on AIDS.

The informative session addressed and explored various concerns about AIDS. The topics covered by the health professionals were the difference between HIV and AIDS, the causes of infection, disease symptoms, health risks and concerns, and HIV prevention.The staff also debunked several myths and misconceptions raised by the attendees, such as AIDS cannot be transmitted by body fluids like saliva, sweat, or tears.
Hindustan Zinc is dedicated to ensuring the communities’ health and well-being. The company initiated its Mobile Health Vans near its operational locations, where communities can avail health screenings and benefits without any cost. Through awareness sessions and point-of-care testing, the MHVs aim to provide more preventative, primitive, and curative services.These MHVs have travelled across a number of communities and have also touched many remote locations.
