To compete for the Sword of Honour, an organisation first must achieve the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s health and safety management audit scheme. Hindustan Zinc’s both units have demonstrated to an independent panel of experts their excellence in health and safety management throughout the business – from the shop floor to the boardroom.
The strategic charter of Hindustan Zinc’soperations has always prioritised safety. Both Chanderiya Smelting Complex (CSC) and Zinc Smelter Debari (ZSD)have implemented a number of best practices to enhance security and safety offerings. The smelters’ occupational health and safety policies, processes, and practices were subjected to a comprehensive, quantitative, and meticulous assessment. Following the audit, Chanderiya’s Captive Power Plant (CPP) and Zinc Smelter Debari were awarded a five-star rating, and consequently the Sword of Honour displaying highest standards of ESG practices being followed at Hindustan Zinc.
