Hind Zinc trains Sakhi women as Master Trainers under ‘Uthori’ campaign

Udaipur. Hindustan Zinc under its women empowerment initiative ‘Sakhi’organised a three-day Uthori Gender Equality program where they organized the 2nd phase of training program to develop 47 Sakhi rural & tribal women as master trainers.

The program was held in Kasa, Udaipur where women from Zawar, Debari, Chittorgarh, Dariba, Agucha, and Kayad got trained by Gender specialist Dr. Rakesh Singh from Delhi, Shashiprabha from Udaipur, and Manjari Foundation’s Program Officer – Shivaom.
The Sakhi project’s major goal is to connect with women and form groups, with a goal of promoting livelihoods, economic development, and social development in the future through these groups and organizations.Uthori Campaign under Sakhiis being carried out in 2 states, 6 districts, 7 locations, 11 blocks, and 54 panchayats. In the 1st phase, over 17000+ rural & tribal Sakhi women were sensitized on basic principles of Gender Equality.
This three-day session under phase 2ndcovered sensitive topics such as citizenship, constitution, gender equality, behavior& social conduct in society, solution strategy, and sexuality. These women will be assisted in solving this intricate situation using a variety of creative activities, films, and other mediums. As master trainers, these ladies will now spread awareness &educate the communities around. The campaign was carried out in collaboration with the Manjari Foundation.
The Sakhi initiative encourages women to create grassroots institutions such as Self Help Groups (SHGs) that can serve as vehicles for their empowerment. Sakhi initiative helps women transcend socioeconomic obstacles and hurdles by strengthening their leadership, skill development, personal finance, and entrepreneurship skills and bringing in women empowerment in the community.


Hind Zinc Wins Leadership in HR Excellence at 12th CII National Award

The company received the accolade for “Leadership in HR Excellence”, scoring in the 600+ Band Barrier on a rigorous CII Assessment. The award was presented by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which aims to establish and sustain an environment favourable to India’s growth by partnering with industry, government, and civil society through advisory and consultative processes.

The CII HR Excellence Award is one of the most prominent honours in the HR industry. The HR Excellence Model is based on frameworks used in global excellence assessments as well as contemporary models from around the world. Notably, Hindustan Zinc’s scores and the benchmark scores in three parameters – Leadership, Learning and Development, and Organizational Performance Indicators– were in the same range which was based on a comprehensive evaluation.
The accomplishment reflects the company’s dedication to developing and maintaining an ideal working environment for its employees, associates, and partners. It is also a testament to the company’s superior HR policies and senior management’s drive to accomplish the holistic development and well-being of its employees and stakeholders.
People are at the core of Hindustan Zinc’s operations. The Sustainability Yearbook is an influential guide that provides in-depth analysis on corporate sustainability.

The company’s sustainability performance is among the top in the industry and is also one of the world’s highest-performing companies. More than 2,100 companies, representing over 45% of the world’s market capitalisation, participated in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), and over 7,500 companies in total were screened for possible inclusion in the Yearbook. To be included in the Yearbook, companies must be in the top 15% of their sector and achieve a score that is within the top 30% of the best performing companies in their industry on both environmental, social and governance issues.

The company received the award for ‘Outstanding Accomplishment in Corporate Excellenceand Dariba smelter received the award for excellence in Environment management’. The company was presented the award in a virtual event in the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, MP, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge); Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation

The CII-ITC Sustainability Awards aim to recognise and reward excellence in companies that are working towards making their operations more sustainable and inclusive. The awards, which are based on the EFQM Excellence Framework, are for companies that seamlessly aim to make sustainability their business. The evaluation is based on around 250 indicators that encompass 15 different elements of sustainability. The examination has been expanded to encompass elements such as Business Ethics, Employee Development, Human Rights, and Biodiversity. This is one of the country’s most coveted awards in the field of corporate sustainable development.
