Hind Zinc Wins ‘Company with Great Managers’ Award for Two Consecutive Years

Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, the world’s leading zinc-lead and silver producer, has received the ‘Company with Great Managers 2021’ award. The Great Manager Awards is a joint initiative between People Business and Economic Times to identify, recognize and reward organizations with ‘Great Managers’ in India.

This program enables the participant organizations to compare and benchmark themselves and their managers across the industry. Also, Ms Sunipa Roy, Chief Commercial Officer and Mr C Chandru, Chief Operating Officer, Smelters of Hindustan Zinc Limited, were the proud recipients of the ‘Great Managers’ award.

Hindustan Zinc has created a distinct working culture across its operations and processes. Recently, the company launched a structured and high-impact learning program called the Managerial Effectiveness Program, which comprises of a 360-degree evaluation and an individual feedback session aimed at new managers to assist them in transitioning from individual contributors to great managers. Hindustan Zinc believes that its most valuable asset is its people, and that a motivated and productive team is the cornerstone of the company’s long-term success.
Through a range of rigorous managerial competence evaluations, including leadership style and performance, the renowned ‘Great Manager Programs’ strive to define and develop an ecosystem and culture in India that produces great managers. Nominated managers are evaluated on key managerial criteria using an international benchmark and evaluation model.
Hindustan Zinc has a robust HR framework that focuses on close involvement with its employees at all levels. Employees’ requirements, including technological, functional, behavioural, management, and leadership aspects, are the driving force behind the involvement. Gender parity is another priority of the company, with equal representation and opportunity for both genders at all levels. During FY20-21, two of the female employees went from breaking ground to breaking barriers. Sandhya Rasakatla became India’s first woman mine manager, while Yogeshwari Rane became India’s first woman to obtain a first-class certificate in both restricted and unrestricted categories.


Hind Zinc Electrifies Six Panchayats with Solar Powered Street Lights

40 solar lights will be installed across six Pancahayats near Zawar
Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, the leading global integrated producer of zinc, lead, and silver, leverages its various initiatives to promote renewable energy, technology, and community development.As part of their CSR initiative, the company inaugurated40 solar streetlights across6 Panchayats near Zawar. HZL strongly believes that electricity is a critical driver of socio-economic development, and that affordable green and clean energy is the ideal approach for the benefit of the community as well as the environment.

The village Sarpanch, Shri Prakash Meena, and the HZL’s CSR team chose specific areas in the village, and installation work began following the consultation with the local community. “Due to the effort of the CSR team of Zawar Mines, the residents of our village will have access to electricity, and the interest towards renewable energy and solar lights will also develop among the local people,” remarked the local Sarpanch, Mr. Prakash Meena.
Talking about the series of renewable energy initiatives, SBU Director, Zawar Mines – Mr. Kishore S expressed his vision of improving & strengthening rural infrastructures and promote green energy values through the integration of clean energy and smart technology applications.The villagers’ lives will be significantly touched by the installation of solar-powered streetlights which will provide better illumination to the villages and ensure safety post-sunset. In the long run, the idea is to install additional streetlights and other infrastructure and development projects in these villages, for a brighter and progressive Rajasthan.
The company has been promoting solar energy while simultaneously working to improve the quality of life of local communities. More than 100 solar street lights have already been erected throughout Zawar’s 12 Panchayats, with an additional 40 on the way. This initiative will ensure the safety of local villages, avoid accidents, and improve visibility for everyone at night. This will also provide communities with environmentally friendly technologies and improve their standard of living by providing illumination at night.

Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s largest zinc-lead miner, has earned certification for integrated ISO systems for its IT systems. Certification includes 27001 (Information Security Management Systems), ISO 22301 (IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Management Systems), ISO 27701 (Privacy Information Management Systems) & ISO 31000 (IT Risk Management Systems).

The integrated ISO systems certification is provided by Intertek and accredited by United Kingdom Accredit Services (UKAS) Management Systems. It is the highest recognition to an organization having a significant impact on the lives of the community around them.

This award endorses Hindustan Zinc’s philosophy of giving back. The award recognizes Hindustan Zinc’s innovative and progressive CSR practices including skill development of youth and providing safe drinking water to the community. Building up their flagship programs for women’s employment and employment engagements.
Hindustan Zinc is present in more than 5 districts in Rajasthan, 1 district in Uttarakhand, and 1 district in Gujarat and positively impacts the lives of more than 7 lakh individuals through its CSR initiatives. Hind Zinc joins the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) forum

to tackle nature-related risks, This step will play a significant role in protecting and enhancing the biodiversity, The company also recently launched its first TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related financial disclosure) report which sets the adoption of the TCFD framework for climate change risk and opportunity disclosure
Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc today announced that it has joined the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). Hindustan Zinc will work with TNFD members to provide a market-led framework for organizations to report and act on evolving nature-related risks. They will support a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes.

TNFD will organize outreach programs across geographies to raise awareness about the criticality of climate change. It will play a significant role in helping to tackle environmental and biodiversity loss thus helping in transitioning towards an environmental positive future.
Speaking about the announcement, Mr. Arun Misra, CEO, Hindustan Zinc Limited said, “Protecting and enhancing biodiversity is an integral part of our commitment to sustainable development. Hindustan Zinc is pleased to announce that we have joined the TNFD Forum, a consultative body of institutions that support the vision and mission of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. As a COP26 Business Leader, the company has always been actively initiating towards tackling the repercussions of climate change. The company is also among the only two metal & mining companies globally and among only four Indian companies to be a part of the coveted CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) ‘A List’ 2020.
