Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc-lead-silver producer, received the ‘Indira Mahila Shakti ProtsahanAvam Samman’ Award by Women & Child Development Department – Rajasthan Governmenton the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The program was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Ashok Gehlot who presented the award to all the winners who have excelled in the field of women empowerment. The event was held at the Birla Auditorium in Jaipur to honor individuals and organizations that was witnessed many Government officials. During the award ceremony, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Ashok Gehlot, appreciated the efforts of individuals and organizations in empowering women by making them self-reliant, and encouraged everyone to keep working in the same spirit to ensure women’s equal participation in society.
Hindustan Zinc -Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute received the award along with Skilling project implementing partner team (Ambuja Cement Foundation).
Hindustan Zinc through its Skilling initiative aims at providing market linked job opportunities and self-employment to the local youth and also ensure female participation to promote gender equality. As of now more than 2600 youth have been trained through this initiative out of which 1000 are females. The company has joined hands with Ambuja Cement Foundation and Tata Strive to work towards the skill development in rural areas. Initially the organizations conducted a need assessment survey to identify the types of employment opportunities available for local youth along with their area of interest. On the basis of this assessment, Hindustan Zinc Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute were started in Dariba&Agucha in 2019-20 with an aim to offer short duration intensive courses. Now four new centers have been initiated, at Kayad and Debari by Ambuja Cement Foundation while at Chanderiya and Pantnagar, Tata Strive is in charge of implementing the project.
