Hind Zinc signs MoU to enhance cooperation in Tele medicine

The MoU with Rabindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Udaipur will bring Medical care facilities at the doorstep of the rural & tribal people in 5 districts of Rajasthan, The program will be implemented through company’s Swasthya Sewa Mobile Health Van program
Udaipur : Telemedicine is a boon, especially for people living in remote villages and those in need of specialist medical care. Understanding the importance of timeliness, which saves money and energy, Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc-lead-silver producer, has signed an MoU with Rabindra Nath Tagore (RNT) Medical College, Udaipur to offer expertdoctors’ suggestions and recommendations for patients who require second-level interventions. The initiative will be undertaken by Hindustan Zinc’s Health initiative where 6 Mobile Health Vans are deployed in 6 locations in Rajasthan: Zawar, Debari, Dariba, Chanderiya, Agucha, Kayad.

During the ceremony, Mr Arun Misra – CEO, Hindustan Zinc and Dr Lakhan Poswal – Principal, Rabindra Nath Tagore Medical College signed the MoU in the presence of Hindustan Zinc, RNT Medical College and Deepak Foundation officials.
On this occasion, Mr. Arun Misra said “At Hindustan Zinc, we’ve been committed to providing quality healthcare at the doorstep of our communities through our Mobile Health Vans. The MoU with Rabindranath Tagore Medical College will further this provision deeper within our rural and tribal communities with the addition of enhanced telemedicine facilities. The health and wellbeing of our people is integral for our holistic growth and the aspect of remote medical facilities like cardiology, ENT and gynecology will enable access to top-quality healthcare to the very last mile.”
Hindustan Zinc has established MHVs through implementation partner Deepak Foundation with the goal of assisting its communities in curative and preventive health care. Rabindra Nath Tagore Medical College will deploy technology to provide on-the-ground doctors in the Mobile Health Vans with consultation from its specialist Doctors’ team, which will strengthen their doorstep delivery of health services in and around the operations.
“In collaboration with Hindustan Zinc, RNT Medical College will provide their expertise in Cardiology, ENT, gynaecology, dermatology and many other to the technician of Mobile Health Van working in the operational area of Hindustan Zinc, along with that we will ensure that our services and expertise will reach to the remote area of all the 5 districts and ensuring that 154 villages will be benefited with our services.” informed Dr Lakhan Poswal.
Hindustan Zinc has expanded various healthcare facilities, such as OPD, special health camps, and awareness sessions. A total of 8 Mobile Health Vansoperates across 182 villages in Rajasthan and one in Uttarakhand. Aside from MHVs, health services are also provided by company-run hospitals and homoeopathic centres. Over the course of the year, more than 2 million patients have benefited from various health initiatives and programs conducted by Hindustan Zinc.


HIND ZINC WINS INDIRA MAHILA SHAKTI SAMMAN AWARD

The company was presented with the award by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot for excelling in the field of women empowerment
Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc-lead-silver producer, received the ‘Indira Mahila Shakti ProtsahanAvam Samman’ Award by Women & Child Development Department – Rajasthan Governmenton the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The program was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Ashok Gehlot who presented the award to all the winners who have excelled in the field of women empowerment. The event was held at the Birla Auditorium in Jaipur to honor individuals and organizations that was witnessed many Government officials. During the award ceremony, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Ashok Gehlot, appreciated the efforts of individuals and organizations in empowering women by making them self-reliant, and encouraged everyone to keep working in the same spirit to ensure women’s equal participation in society.
Hindustan Zinc -Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute received the award along with Skilling project implementing partner team (Ambuja Cement Foundation).
Hindustan Zinc through its Skilling initiative aims at providing market linked job opportunities and self-employment to the local youth and also ensure female participation to promote gender equality. As of now more than 2600 youth have been trained through this initiative out of which 1000 are females. The company has joined hands with Ambuja Cement Foundation and Tata Strive to work towards the skill development in rural areas. Initially the organizations conducted a need assessment survey to identify the types of employment opportunities available for local youth along with their area of interest. On the basis of this assessment, Hindustan Zinc Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute were started in Dariba&Agucha in 2019-20 with an aim to offer short duration intensive courses. Now four new centers have been initiated, at Kayad and Debari by Ambuja Cement Foundation while at Chanderiya and Pantnagar, Tata Strive is in charge of implementing the project.
As a socially responsible corporate, Hindustan Zinc has been relentlessly working to improve the lives of rural and tribal people residing near its business locations. The company is amongst the Top 15 CSR Spenders in India and are currently reaching out to 700,000 people in 184 villages of Rajasthan and 5 in Uttarakhand.

The company strives to support women in the mining industry, with a gender diversity ratio of 18.9% and 5.2 per cent in leadership positions.

Hindustan Zinc is a firm believer in the significance of diversity and equal opportunity in the success and growth of any company and has made it one of the foundational ideals of its human resource management strategy. The company acknowledges the significance of bringing the perspectives of women to the table and has implemented several policies and practices for that purpose. The company is dedicated to the Women Empowerment Principles developed and distributed by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact.
Women hold critical roles at Hindustan Zinc in numerous departments such as marketing, CSR, supply chain and logistics, and communication. Women make up about 15% of the executive personnel in the company. Women’s employment and research opportunities have risen and broadened since the government lifted the ban on women entering mines, allowing women engineers and geologists to work in the underground mines.
Various initiatives were implemented to strengthen the number of women employees and to encourage more women, as a result of which accomplishments such as recruiting the first women mining engineers came to Hindustan Zinc. Sandhya Rasakatla, the Underground Mine Manager of Hindustan Zinc’s Zawarmala Mine, and Yogeshwari Rane, the Head of Planning & Development at Hindustan Zinc’s Kayad Mine, were both conferred the “First Class Mines Manager” certificate of competency in the “Unrestricted” category.The company also has
The company’s Diversity Mentoring Program is aimed at supporting women professionals. The objective has been to nurture a pool of talented women by promoting improved retention, developing a coping system for organisational change, and supporting women professionals in self-development. During the first phase of the program, 168 women professionals were acknowledged and mentored by 108 higher-ranking leaders in the company.
Hindustan Zinc assures and administers no discrimination in its promotion, recruitment, placement criteria, or any other issues related to employment to promote and foster diversification as a regular practice within the company and in all associations involving key stakeholders. The employee’s work and expertise serve as the only criteria for remuneration.
Hindustan Zinc is focused on supporting diversity and inclusion both inside the company and among its partner communities. In FY 2011, women in the executive workforce were at 6% and by the end of FY 2021 the number stood at 15%
highlighting the growing women workforce in the company across levels and positions.
Hindustan Zinc’s Diversity & Inclusion policy assists in determining, organising, planning, and implementing the agenda, support apparatus, and scope of actions required to eliminate the inequality that prevents the company from meeting its diversity goals. Excellent on-site medical services, child daycare facilities, restrooms, residential settlements, and other amenities are available to help women accomplish their responsibilities effectively while meeting their fundamental demands for a healthy and clean work environment. As a result of these attributes, Hindustan Zinc has one of the highest return to work ratios of women professionals who return to work after maternity leave. It exemplifies the ease with which the organisation’s women professionals can balance their work and personal responsibilities and commitments.
According to the latest study, 401 women employees are in executive and non executive positions at Hindustan Zinc, accounting for 10.78% of full-time employees, with 9.46% representation in top management positions, 11.2% in Operations and Maintenance, and 33.7% in Enabling functions. Women in mining who work in Asset Integrity, Mine O&M, and Mill O&M constitute 9.4% of the workforce, while women in smelting who work in operations such as Smelter Asset Integrity, Smelter Operation, Lab, etc constitute 14.5% of the workforce. At the same time women constitute 35% of the active security workforce and women in the quality function which overlooks and ensures quality checks & systems in processes stands at 46%. These figures are anticipated to grow as the company initites novel and innovative programs and initiatives to encourage and nurture women professionals.
